 News  Power Design Game Chosen for Design Interact Holiday E-Card Annual December 30, 2005 Excerpt from Design Interact: The Design Interact E-Card Annual honors the top holiday-themed e-mails from designers around the world. As usual, this year's crop was unscientifically selected by rummaging through our own mailboxes during the weeks before Christmas and choosing our favorites. Our selections range from simple animations to more complex decorating applications. Technically, the release of Flash 8 looms large, with many design firms using their e-cards to put the new software through its paces. But most of all, this year proves that e-cards provide a great chance for small-market, interactive studios to show up their better-known counterparts. This year, Philadelphia-based Power Design has created a surprisingly challenging Flake Mates winter-themed game. "We do a promotion for the holidays each year to give something to our clients that they can enjoy and have fun with," says Justin Lerner. Fun or not, it's certainly tough. Users are given a snowflake pattern and then have to match it by clicking on snowflakes as they fly past. The game is much harder than it looks, but with an active high score board, it's certainly attracting its share of users.
